Redefining National Security
Working Group
Purpose: The Why Behind Our Work
The Redefining National Security (RDNS) Working Group focuses on broadening the scope of its efforts in addressing the multifaceted challenges of a rapidly changing world. RDNS works to incorporate a more comprehensive understanding of evolving global affairs and emerging threats to collective security. By fostering inclusive dialogue and collaboration, the group examines traditional concerns such as warfare and terrorism alongside emerging issues, including technological advancements, economic resilience, and the role of information in shaping security landscapes. Guided by principles of equity, resilience, and cooperation, the group seeks to inspire forward-thinking solutions and contribute to a more stable, just, and secure global community.
Scope: Defining our Focus
The WCAPS Redefining National Security Working Group centers its efforts on reshaping the traditional understanding of national security to reflect the complex and evolving threats facing all Americans. By critically examining current definitions and funding priorities, we aim to foster a more inclusive and equitable approach to security that acknowledges the needs and vulnerabilities of all communities.
Through research, dialogue, and advocacy, the working group seeks to redefine national security in a way that centers humanity and ensures the safety and well-being of all.
