Purpose: The Why Behind Our Work
The WCAPS Africa Working Group aims to foster a community of women of color with a background, interest or regional focus on the African continent.
Our group is particularly focused on the geopolitically, economically and geographically informed regional blocs on the continent, while fostering the exchange of ideas, promotion of professional development, and culminating of worldwide connectivity of women of color Africa experts that knows no bounds. The Africa working group strives to continue centering the diversity of African voices and analysis across the continent, the Diaspora, different areas of expertise, as well as societal perspectives.
Scope: Defining our Focus
Build a community of women who care about, are studying, or are working on issues related to the African Continent.
Amplify the voices of women of color studying or working on peace, security, and conflict transformation in Africa and on the continent of Africa.
Provide a platform for women of color to openly discuss regional policies, issues and activities in a way that intersects with other working groups and the WCAPS goal of redefining national security.
Cultivate networking and outward-facing opportunities for members to engage.
Celebrate the diversity of cultures and histories represented across the larger region known as Africa
Goals/Objectives: Targeted Outcomes
