A fundamental aspect of Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security, and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS) is to necessitate a seat for women of color have a seat at the table on issues of peace, security and conflict transformation while empowering their voices. We aim to look at the whole person, women from the earlier stages of their academic career to mid-level professionals, to help them to analyze and maneuver the field successfully.
Thus, in the spirit of community, scholarship, and empowerment, the Pipeline Fellowship Program was born. In February 2020, WCAPS welcomed our first cohort of Fellows in Washington D.C. and has since expanded to include qualified women from across the globe! Over the course of five months, fellows learn about and engaged with topics such as, but not limited to, peacebuilding and mediation, the ICC and who gets tried, the WPS agenda, CBRNE & technologies, etc., and will be graced by a few of the most dedicated and diligent women in the field.
Alongside academic capstone fulfilment, the Pipeline Fellowship Program provides benefits to accepted fellows such as, but not limited to, publication opportunities, event coordination and/or event support opportunities, networking opportunities and network-building exposure, professional writing workshops, and personal brand workshops.
Fellows build a robust network of peers, editors, guest speakers, and program and WCAPS leaders in the peace and security space that will support and/or streamline their entry into this career field.
Fellows gain and/or polish the skills needed to navigate the sector and launch a supported career in the peace and security community.
Fellows will be enabled to leverage their professional growth, personal brand, and development in the peace and security space to empower the next generation of women of color in the sector.
