Purpose: The Why Behind Our Work
The Redefining National Security (RDNS) Working Group focuses on broadening the scope of its efforts in addressing the multifaceted challenges of a rapidly changing world. RDNS works to incorporate a more comprehensive understanding of evolving global affairs and emerging threats to collective security. By fostering inclusive dialogue and collaboration, the group examines national security concerns such as warfare and terrorism alongside emerging issues, including technological advancements, economic resilience, and the role of information in shaping security landscapes. Guided by principles of equity, resilience, and cooperation, the group seeks to inspire forward-thinking solutions and contribute to a more stable, just, and secure global community.
Scope: Defining our Focus
Women’s leadership development is at the forefront of our agenda. As we move our communities towards success in leading global security and cooperation, our key activities focus on:
Education for young women of color on NATO mission and priorities
Creation of professional opportunities for our global communities to engage in constructive dialogue and peace-building efforts
Cultivate the next generation of women leaders in the defense and national security field
Objectives
Amplify the Voices of Women of Color in Security Dialogue
-Promote the expertise and leadership of women of color in global security discussions.
- Increase visibility and representation in policy and decision-making forums.
- Create a platform for women of color to publish research, analysis, and opinion pieces.
Foster Collaborative Solutions to Shared Challenges
- Establish cross-sector and international partnerships to address international security challenges.
- Encourage equitable strategies that integrate diverse regional and sectoral perspectives.
- Promote collaboration on interdisciplinary research and policy design.
Explore and Shape Responses to Evolving Threats
- Monitor and analyze emerging global security threats (e.g., AI, misinformation, climate change).
- Develop innovative, adaptable, and forward-thinking security frameworks.
- Provide actionable recommendations for addressing new complexities.
