Zaire Overton

Zaire Overton, is currently a Policy Staff Assistant for the County of Los Angeles’ Board of Supervisors, where she has served the Third District under Supervisor Sheila Kuehl since 2018.

Prior to joining Supervisor Kuehl’s Office, Zaire studied abroad in Brazil; more specifically in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador da Bahia and Sao Paulo. She has also been expanding upon her international cultural experiences by traveling to additional countries such as England, France, and Argentina.

She is the co-founder of Career Opportunities for International Relations (COIR), an annual Human Resources recruiting event for young professionals in the field hosted by the U. S. Department of State.

In her spare time, Zaire also voluntarily serves as assistant/coordinator to Consul General of Senegal, Mame Toucouleur Mbaye, President of the Los Angeles Consular Corps Spouses Association.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and a true product of the West Coast, Zaire graduated from the University of Southern California in 2017. She completed her degree in International Relations, with two concentrations: 1.) International Politics & Security Studies and 2.) Culture, Gender & Global Society. Before her studies concluded, she also initiated the creation of a minor in Brazilian Cultural Studies, and became the first student at the university to ever obtain that accolade. She is a native English speaker, while being fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish.
