The WCAPS Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Policy Working Group has aimed to include the voices of women of color in the field since 2018. In 2019, WCAPS partnered with the Carnegie Nuclear Policy Conference to organize its first panel addressing the lack of diversity in the field. This year WCAPS is also partnering with the Carnegie Nuclear Policy Conference on the Young Professionals Track and will co-host a breakout session titled Carnegie-WCAPS Breakout Session: Addressing the Lack of Diversity & Inclusion in the Nuclear Field.
Our goal is to make sure that the focus on substantive policy discussions is complemented with a discussion on who is doing the talking and action for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the nuclear policy field.
