A Conversation on the Presidential Election in Peru

The Race Across the Pond Initiative is hosting the “Women of Color and National Security Series,” beginning with the first event: A Conversation on the Presidential Election in Peru.

Last Sunday, Peruvians elected a new President. The international media has framed this election as a choice between far-right candidate Keiko Fujimori and far-left candidate Pedro Castillo. However, the nuances and the particularities of the Peruvian model have been lost in the analysis.

We invite you to join the RAP Initiative for an insightful conversation with Mariella De La Cruz Taboada, a Women of Color and National Security Series team member, next Wednesday, June 16th at 12:00 PM EST / 6:00 PM CET. We will discuss the results of the Peruvian presidential election and how this electoral process has highlighted racial tensions and reflected fragmentation within the country.
