Sidney Walters

Sidney is a student at Howard University in Washington, DC. She is majoring in International Relations with a Spanish and Public Relations Minor. Sidney, who started attending Howard in 2019, has expanded her professional portfolio and has held several leadership roles. In her most recent role, Sidney became a Community Engagement Squadron Commander within Air Force ROTC at Howard University in 2022.

As the Community Engagement Squadron Commander, she has the opportunity to mentor and train future US Air Force Officers. She has the unique opportunity to be hands-on with them. And has planned and run major events for Detachment 130 at Howard University including New Student Orientation and Career Day among many others. She also served as the Co-Chair of the Communications Committee for Black Professionals in International Affairs (BPIA), an international organization rooted in the desire to connect Black professionals with one another. In that capacity, she had the opportunity to oversee all aspects of the Communications Committee. She then served as the Tech Lead, helping run tech for small panel events to virtual career fairs with 30+ companies looking for employees. Finally, shifted to becoming a Patricia Roberts Harris Public Affairs Fellow. Where she collaborates with the rest of her cohort to understand Public Affairs on a deeper level through professional and personal development.
