WCAPS NEW YORK CHAPTER

WCAPS-NY is the New York branch of Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security (WCAPS), a platform dedicated to advance the leadership and professional development of women of color in the fields of international peace, security, and conflict transformation.

Our Mission

At WCAPS, we believe that global issues demand a variety of perspectives. That is why we created a platform devoted to women of color that cultivates a strong voice and network for its members while encouraging dialogue and strategies for engaging in policy discussions on an international scale. The New York Chapter of WCAPS aims to further our organization’s mission in advancing the leadership and professional development of women of color in the fields of international peace, security and conflict transformation.

Our Approach

WCAPS-NY will maximize the potential of its membership, professional network, and geographical significance in international peacekeeping and national security efforts by generating programming and initiatives surrounding on the following themes:

International peacekeeping, multilateral diplomacy, and security:  As home to the United Nations, Council on Foreign Relations, and September 11th tragedy, the WCAPS-NY chapter is uniquely suited to focus on overarching multilateral diplomacy, peacekeeping, and national security themes.

Philanthropy and humanitarian aid:  With some of the largest global philanthropic institutions, the United Nations, and mission-related international NGOs, the chapter is uniquely poised to amplify the effectiveness of peacekeeping and national security aid for and by women of color.

Public private partnerships:  As home to the United Nations, and epicenter of U.S. financial markets, major cultural institutions, and global media outlets, the WCAPS-NY chapter is uniquely suited to promote partnerships that uplift, connect, and amplify the perspective of women of color in peacekeeping and national security.
