Furhana Husani

Furhana Husani is currently the Director of Programs and Climate Initiatives at Waterfront Alliance and serves on the Leadership Strategy Team of Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security and Conflict Transformation’s Climate Change Working Group. These two roles allow her to pursue her deep conviction to support systems that build resilience, create awareness and advocate for the most vulnerable populations to a changing climate.

For the past 10+ years, Furhana has been working to improve the lives of young people in minority communities through developing and implementing holistic, interdisciplinary policies, strategies, educational programs and calls to action. In addition, she has spent several years as an engineer and consultant in electricity generation and markets, renewable energy, and policy and analysis in multiple countries.

She holds a MPA in International Energy Management and Policy from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University, completed a Graduate Program in Islamic Studies and the Humanities at The Institute of Ismaili Studies and has a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University.

Furhana has two beautiful children and would like to see them grow up in a more just and equitable world.
