Ananya Kundu

Ananya Kundu-  Ananya is a feminist activist, researcher, writer and communications specialist based in India. She is currently the Country Coordinator for India at Women's Regional Network (WRN). WRN amplifies the voices of conflict-affected women in order to address the interlinked issues of peace and justice, governance and security, within the context of growing militarization in South Asia. In the past the organization has also worked on forced displacements in India, due to the establishment of nuclear power plant projects. The organization has been investigating forced displacement taking place in India due to these nuclear projects which are extremely risky for the environment.

Ananya is also a Civic Media Observatory Researcher at Global Voices which is an international, multilingual, community of writers, translators, academics, and human rights activists. The project involves investigating and analysing the role of media narratives (print and electronic) in forming public opinion and shaping socio-political contexts in the country. This has also included media analysis on climate change and climate action related content that influences public opinion on climate change.

Ananya is the Communications Lead at WCAPS Climate Change Working Group. As a storyteller, photographer and researcher, Ananya envisions conducting on-ground interviews and collecting stories relating to the gendered impact of climate change on women and gender minorities. Ananya seeks to document forced displacements and migration patterns taking place due to climate change in South Asia. Through her current role in communications, she seeks to harness the power of social media to build conversations and spread awareness regarding the impacts of climate change while also building transnational solidarities and movements.
